Connecting to Elders Through Song

Emma Hill’s “Connecting Through Elders Through Song” project featured live virtual performances for Cook Inlet Housing Authority’s Elder residents in both group and one-on-one settings. Reminiscent of Emma Hill’s “Songcircle” performances in their intimate, storytelling setting, CIHA’s residents were serenaded with deeply personal songs and narratives tackling life’s struggles, passions, and triumphs.

Emma Hill said of her project, “ I believe music to be a universal language and it often can help break down barriers between people in a short amount of time… Music experienced in intimate spaces can be profoundly moving. With Covid-19 happening, folks have been especially isolated and lonely. While I was not able to sing for folks in person, I was thankful to share the gift of song virtually and get to know some of these lovely residents.”

We at Cook Inlet Housing Authority were very happy to catch Emma Hill on a rare break from recording, performing live shows, and touring with bandmate Bryan Daste. To learn more about Emma Hill please visit www.emmahillmusic.com
