Collaboration
Crystal Worl’s project engaged Elder CIHA residents in an art-based group initiative that incorporated photos and imagery of CIHA senior residents into a traditional Tlingit formline design. Announcement of this project was included in CIHA’s June Centennial Village newsletter with a deadline of June 26th, 2020. CIHA Resident Engagement staff were tasked with collecting the photos and imagery submitted by residents and sending them to Crystal Worl electronically. Elder residents who chose to participate submitted photos that carried meaning in some way to be included in Crystal Worl’s project design. The final design was printed on note cards and distributed to CIHA residents to send to friends or family. The note cards promoted increased communication and helped residents feel more connected to those outside of their home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
